Motorola Mth800 Upgrade from Legacy to CPS Plus (post FW6511) Version

Some older Motorola MTH800 models may only support serial programming due to legacy firmware.
Below is a Step-by-Step Upgrade Guide for transitioning from the old Legacy (Z19) serial connection to the new CPS Plus (RPK) USB connection:

Setup the Legacy CPS LAB MR5.8 to your computer.
You need Windows XP 32bit OS and USB-connector.
Setup the USB driver.

There are 10-all Legacy FW-packs for MTH800 from FW 5343 to FW 6911.
Copy the 10 z19 pack to the:
MR5.8LAB CPS main folder
MR5.8LAB CPS Pack folder
MR5.8LAB CPS SW folder

FOR USER LEVEL LAB:
User: Lab
Password: Lab or lab

Now you can run the Legacy CPS.
Plug in the USB programming cable (SKN6311B). Set the connection type to USB in the CPS (after successful previous USB driver setup).
Plug the programmer to the radio.

Read device and save the orginal codeplug!
Upgrade therminal to the highest version! (6911, 6517 or 6511).
If done, read terminal, save codeplug.
You can try upgrade again, if you reached the highest version, there is no upgarde avaible.
Now done, you have migration version FW/SW on your radio!

CPS PLUS DEPOT PROGRAMMING AND UPDATE

For the CPS PLUS is Windows 7 or later recommended.

Now you can read your terminal with the CPS PLUS DEPOT.
Read your FW6XXX codeplug and save it.
Uprade your terminal – choose the 8495 version.
If done:
Read the device and save the codeplug – if you have trouble to do that, upgarde the USB driver (setup was for old FW, now you have new version).
DONE
Now the radio is 8495 version.
