The Hytera PT580H Plus and PT580 Plus S are both rugged handheld radios designed for professional use in demanding environments, particularly in public safety and critical communication scenarios. While they share many similarities, PT580H Plus S offers more advanced features compared to the PT580H Plus.
The PT580H Plus S highlights include a high IP67 rating of ingress protection,up to 3 Watt output, clear digital voice quality, man down functionality andGPS location services, delivering mission ciritcal communications, instantly.
Besides Direct Mode (DMO) and Trunked Radio Mode (TMO), the PT580H Plus Ssupports ETSI type 1A DMO Repeater operation. By using this operating mode, the PT580H Plus S can boost the area of operation for other TETRA users.
The PT580H Plus S features an advanced audio chip with new noise cancelling capability.

Adaptation for Ham Radio Use
Originally tailored for professional applications, the PT580 Plus S can be repurposed for Ham radio enthusiasts through programming adjustments and settings modifications. However, it’s crucial to acknowledge that due to limitations in CPS features and settings, these alterations may not be straightforward.
For HamTETRA use, it’s important to consider the F4 version only of the PT580 Plus S and to understand the model’s inherent limitations and capabilities. Frequency range cannot be expanded!
Programming
Programming the PT580 Plus S requires a compatible programming cable And Hytera Tetra CPS. Also for firmware upgrading you’ll need TETRA Upgrade Kit package according with desired Fw version.

You will need PC36 Programming cable (USB to serial)
Antenna Considerations
Hytera PT580 Plus S uses combination GPS/Radio Antenna so when replacing the antenna, it’s important to take into account this factor.
