Cleartone CM9000

Introduction

The Cleartone CM9000 is a TETRA mobile radio primarily designed for secure and reliable digital radio communication. Built to meet the demanding needs of public safety, emergency services, and professional users, the CM9000 offers robust connectivity, advanced encryption, and limited interoperability.

Frequency Range from factory:

TG00081AA – CM9000P-3 380-400 MHz
TG00066AA – CM9000P-4 410-430 MHz
TG00071AA CM9000P-5 450-470 MHz.
Mode l#  not availabefor the 806-870 Mhz

Expanded Frequency Range: 406 -440MHz

Adaptation for Ham Radio Use

While initially designed for professional applications, the Cleartone CM9000 can be repurposed for Ham radio use with appropriate programming and settings adjustments.

There are two hardware versions for this model:

-TG00082AA – 3W RF Power

TG00083AA – 10W RF Power   Can also be used as a DMO repeater after entering the activation PIN code purchased from the manufacturer!

Old hw comes with green backlight, while new Hw versions comes with blue backlight.

It’s important to note that due to the limitations of CPS features and settings, modifications or expansions may not be straightforward.
If power failure, the CM9000 does not switch back in repeater mode, must be switched back on manually. Also there is no Ignition option/pin on the radio so if power failure, it will not power on automatically

Programming

To program the Cleartone CM9000, you’ll need a compatible programming cable. Cleartone usually uses proprietary cables, but for this model, crafting your own programming cable is straightforward by following the pinout on the radio’s back accessory connector.
– To program the 3 W version, use software version 2.05 or 2.05A.
– To program the 10W version, use version 2.06 of the software.

Antenna Considerations

For the CM9000 radio, two types of antennas are applicable: mobile and base station antennas. When selecting an antenna, it’s important to match it to the radio’s operating frequency

Device Pinout

Understanding the device pinout of the Cleartone CM9000 is essential for ensuring proper connectivity and interfacing with external devices. This includes identifying ports for programming, audio accessories, and other peripherals. Additionally, this understanding aids in the creation of custom-made programming cables to suit specific requirements.

Interfacing with Ham Radio Networks

The Cleartone CM9000 can interface with Ham radio networks using programmed channels and frequencies allocated for amateur radio use. It operates limited in Direct Mode Operation (DMO), Trunked Mode Operation (TMO), and it only supports 1B repeater mode, does not know the 1A mode as DMO Repeater!

Compatibility with other radio manufacturers

The Cleartone CM9000 integrates into various HamTETRA environments, performing reliably in Direct Mode Operation (DMO), Trunked Mode Operation (TMO), and only 1B as DMO Repeater mode.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Regular maintenance, including battery checks, firmware updates, and cleaning, helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of the Cleartone CM90000. In case of issues or malfunctions, troubleshooting procedures provided by Cleartone or Ham radio communities can help diagnose and resolve problems effectively.
Please note that the Cleartone CM9000, has reached its end-of-life (EOL) status.
